安倍政権で厄介な存在は内部の“チルドレン”たちだ
年末の衆院選で当選した新人議員は１８４人。１９４９年の衆院選（１９２人）に次ぐ、戦後２番目の多さとなった。なかでも、大勝した自民党は最も多い１１９人が当選。小泉チルドレンと呼ばれた、２００５年の郵政解散総選挙で当選した自民党の新人議員（８３人）よりも多い「安倍チルドレン」が誕生した。
しかし、政治経験をもたない彼らが、安倍政権にとって不安定要因になるという。自民党本部の幹部職員、Ｙ氏が明かす。
「彼らの多くは頭が空っぽで、基礎的なところから教育が必要な連中です。そんな“風”だけで当選してしまった人たちに限って、権力に執着する傾向が強いんです。中身がない人ほど、周囲からチヤホヤされることが気持ちよすぎて、なんとしてもその立場を維持したいと思うのです。だから早くも次の選挙が不安になり、票をくれそうな業界団体の言うことをホイホイと聞いてしまう」
しかも、安倍政権は景気対策として、公共事業投資による「国土強靭化計画」を掲げている。当然、新人議員にもすり寄ってくる人間は多いだろう。
「てことは、既得権益を持っている団体の御用聞きと化すチルドレンが増えてしまい、もし安倍政権が国や国民の利益になりそうな政策を推進しようとしても、邪魔をするかもしれないってことです。大物議員もチルドレンも同じ一票を持っているので、意外と厄介な存在なんですよ……」（Ｙ氏）
不安要素は、ほかにもある。政権奪還という共通の大目標があった衆院選までは、自民党内は一致結束していた。しかし、目標を達成した今は、早くも権力闘争が勃発しているという。元自民党の大物議員、Ｍ氏が嘆く。
「政官業癒着型の古いタイプのベテラン議員たちが、自らの影響力を増強すべく、右も左もわからないチルドレンたちのスカウト活動を盛んに行なっているよ。“数はチカラなり”ってのは今も昔も同じだからね。麻生くんや谷垣くん、町村くんあたりが、みんな“安倍くんの次”を狙っているよ。もちろん、石破幹事長だって虎視眈々と総理の椅子を窺（うかが）っていると思う」
Ｍ氏によると、「こういった人たちを党内で自由に泳がせておくと政権運営が不安定になってしまう」そうだ。
政権が発足したばかりなのに一枚岩になれず、権力闘争に明け暮れている自民党。やはり、党の体質はそう簡単には変わらないようだ。
